A Rare Cause of Hypercalcemia : Two Cases of Parathyroid Adenoma

Hypercalcemia is a rare but serious metabolic condition that may lead to end-organ damage. Primary hyperparathyroidism disease in children and adolescents parathyroid adenoma the most common cause. Most of patients are clinically symptomatic present signs or symptoms hypercalcemia. The aim this report describe two case hypercalcemia due presenting with different clinical findings. 14 years old male patient abdominal pain, vomiting nausea were diagnosed acute pancreatitis. His laboratory findings elevated amylase lipase levels, hyperglycemia, hyperparathyroidism. Parathyroid scintigraphy showed presence an adenoma. Normocalcemia was provided pamidronate hyperglycemia treated insulin. Adenoma excision performed after pancreatitis recovered replacement therapy. After surgery, diabetes mellitus persisted he had hungry bone syndrome. Other 12-year-old presented complaints anorexia, weakness, constipation nausea. He hypercalcemia, hypophosphatemia detected scintigraphy. postoperatively associated primary generally adolescents.
